Artist Profile
Drawing and painting since the age of 5. Michael was formally trained from a
young age in classic art techniques. And, has been developing his art for more
than four decades now. He uses the beauty, complexity and intricacies of life in
its simplicities and balance, as ideas and inspirations for his art, using his
unique Surrealistic style that truly is one of a kind. Michael draws the viewer
into his world using colorful, bold imagery that is familiar yet unusual. What
Michael has developed from a lifetime of practices, experiments, trials and
errors, in conjunction with his background in commercial art, as a graphic artist
- becomes apparent in the technical expertise of his media.
In the seventies while in Europe, he worked on dozens of “large-scale” wall art
projects. This was the beginning of his love for “large-scale” wall art. And, a
point where he started "looking beyond the canvas".
Returning to school in the eighties, he studied two-dimensional fine art with an
emphasis in painting and drawing, as well as commercial art with an emphasis
on technical illustration.
While working as a graphic artist and teaching desktop publishing, early in his
career in the local fine arts community. He painted solo and, as part of several
teams, dozens of murals, many of these were in excess of 150 feet in length
and several two stories tall. This was also the time period when he started
working on installation pieces, creating 3-D from a 2-D format, he worked on
several installations, in a variety of media. After interning for a sculptor, metal
artist, for the better part of two years. He thought one day, how could he as the
artist/painter draw the viewer into his world more? From that one thought, many
installations were created, using everything from cut stone to broken glass -
water to light - experimenting - using reclaimed materials from local sources
these found objects became the inspiration for this new art style, over that next
decade he produced several unique installations, most in private and corporate
collections, from small "backyard" art pieces to massive wall installations.
Currently, Michael’s paintings, which are primarily large-scale oil on canvas,
"
Scapes" as he likes to call them, of flora and female nude’s - macro multi-
images and often larger than life – it becomes apparent in the joyful vibrancy of
color, intensity of the images, aliveness and the fluid movement of his works
that Michael has indeed found his deep love and passion for life and art.

The artist spends much of his time at art shows and festivals across the
country, and when he is not showing or exhibiting - between the hill country of
the Highland lakes in Texas, the mountains and ocean of northern California and
the northeastern seaboard of Maine - perfecting his craft, living art and loving
life...
Michael’s works of art - on paper and canvas, as well as site-specific
installation pieces are in corporate and private collections across the country
and around the globe.
